HISTORY OF YANAIMALAI:
(Yanai=Elephant, Malai= hill or hillock in the context- malai in tamil is referred to small hill too )
This is near Othakadai (Madurai District). Famous for Jain temples caves.
Besides, there is one temple dedicated to Lord Narasimha which is engraved on the walls of the small hill yanai malai is famous for its serenity and tranquility. And another Lord Murugan temple situated on the top of the mole hil near to this temple, is further famous for the deity "PRITHYUNGA DEVI" having the face of lion and curator of all kinds diseases and annihilator of the devil 'fear' within the minds of the human beings.
Farther away, is a temple dedicated to Lord Panduranga.
One should visit these temples not only to have the divinity but also to enjoy the equanimity of the nature mother.
மூலவர் யோக நரசிம்மர் மார்பில் மகாலட்சுமியுடன் மேற்கு பார்த்தும், நரசிங்கவல்லிதாயார் தெற்கு பார்த்தும் அருள்பாலிக்கிறார்கள். இந்த கோயிலில் கொடி மரம் கிடையாது. ஏனெனில் கொடிமரம் என்பது, கருவறைக்கு மேலுள்ள விமானத்தின் நீள அகல அளவைப்பொறுத்தே அமையும். இத் தலத்தில் கருவறைக்குமேல் யானைமலை மிகவும் உயர்ந்து இருப்பதால் கொடிமரம் வைக்கவில்லை என கூறப்படுகிறது.இரு ஒரு குடவறைக்கோயில். கருவறையும், அதன் முன்னே உள்ள உடையவர், நம்மாழ்வார் உள்ள அர்த்த மண்டபமும் குடவறை அமைப்புகள் தான்.
